In reality, it doesn't take a lot to achieve long & healthy hair. If you treat those gorgeous locks right, it'll be long & healthy in no time!
Steps to Longer Locks♥
&// Avoid Brushing Wet Hair
Brushes tend to cause a lot of breakage to your hair and take out a lot of your hair, as you can probably tell by the hair that’s in your brush! To avoid this try using a wide tooth comb or if you don’t like combs, use a natural bristle brush. ♥
&// Stimulate Hair Growth!
If you stimulate the hair follicles, your hair tends to grow faster! So on a daily basis, tip your head upside down and massage your scalp for about 1-3 minutes. This seems weird, but I have noticed it helps c:
&// Don’t Wash it Everyday!
Washing it everyday doesn’t help your hair at all, full stop. It can dry out our hair and make it brittle. If you feel you have to wash your hair everyday, like myself then consider investing in a dry shampoo and using that on your roots. It works wonders! If you can’t afford one, use baby powder instead! It soaks up all the grease in your hair and leaves it looking nice again. Just watch out if your hair is extremely dark, otherwise the powder could leave a white residue to it. ♥
&// Use a Sulfate Free Shampoo!
Why sulfate free? Because it doesn’t strip your hair of its natural chemicals/oils like a regular shampoo does. The only thing is, these can be a little bit pricey but I’ve heard that some people haven’t even used a conditioner since buying a sulfate free shampoo! :D
&// Don’t Get Your Hair Trimmed!
I think we’ve all heard that we should get our hair trimmed to get rid of split ends… We don’t have to really. Truthfully, doing this won’t make your hair any longer. On average, our hair grows ½’’ a month, so if we get our hair trimmed every 8 weeks, you’re cutting off what’s just grown. Hair grows from our scalp, not the ends! So a split end won’t stop it growing. However, if your split ends are terrible then that's obviously an exception to get it trimmed (:
&// Don’t Wear Your Hair Up All Day!
Wearing your hair up all day can put strain on your hair. Take it down once your day at school/college/work is finished, to give it a break. Also don’t wear any accessories in your hair before going to bed. When you’re tossing and turning to get comfy in bed, the accessories will be pulling on your hair and can cause breakage. Avoid it if you can, I know some people have to tie it back because their face is oily and they have spots. If that’s the case, wear a fabric headband to keep your hair back. They keep ALL your hair out of your face. ♥
&// Condition Oily Hair!
If you suffer from greasy hair a lot, then consider using a hair mask weekly, or invest in a deep conditioner. A lot of people think that these make your hair greasier, but it doesn’t. Maybe if you use the daily, but weekly, it will benefit your hair! It will nourish and it will strengthen your locks, and that will help it grow faster c:
Steps to Healthy Hair♥
&// Have a Healthy Balanced Diet!
If you eat a healthy balanced diet, you’d do wonders for your whole body, let alone your hair! Eating healthily has so many benefits to it.
&// OMEGA 3!
Omega 3 is really good for us, and our hair, so eat some protein. :)
&// Hair Masks!
Hair masks are AH-MA-ZIING! They give our hair shine, keep it soft and are just awesome! Some good ingredients for a hair mask are avocadoes, eggs, essential oils, coconut oil/milk, almond oils, apple cider vinegar, honey or yoghurt. ♥
&// Avoid Chlorine!
We all love going swimming but I’m afraid the chlorine in a pool is bad for our hair! However, if you love going swimming, comb conditioner all throughout your hair because this will protect it from the chlorine or just simply wear a cap. c:
&// AVOID HEAT!
Heat is THE worst thing for our hair. This is probably the hardest step for most of us because that means we can’t use straighteners or a blowdryer. It’s easy enough to stop blowdrying your hair though, just let your hair air dry! If you shower at night, put a towel down on top of your pillow and sleep on it. If you shower in the morning, then let it air dry, maybe wrap it in a towel, for as long as you can before using any heat. Just watch out if you wrap it in a towel, if it’s not COMPLETELY dry after you take it out of the towel, then bacteria and fungus could potentially grow on your scalp! (EW!) To avoid using straighteners, try going au-naturale for once, or use a no-heat method. c: If you like your hair curled, again, look for no heat methods! There are plenty on the internet. I'd suggest this girl on YouTube, she's the no-heat curls queen! http://www.youtube.com/user/beautyklove
&// Avoid Product
Product can gunk up our hair if we use too much of it. Most product isn’t actually needed, like a shine spray or even hairspray. You can live without it!
&// Protect your Hair from the Sun!
Most people forget that the sun can actually damage your hair too. Invest in an SPF spray for your hair or wear a hat.
&// Thickening Shampoos!
If you suffer from extremely oily hair, use a thickening shampoo. These clear your scalp and as a bonus, it will give your hair a lift and thicken it. ♥
&// Radishes?
This trick is sooooooooooo weird but I’ve heard it does work wonders, haha! All you have to do is get the radish juice, boil it and massage it into your scalp. Rinse out afterwards. This will help get rid of any dandruff supposedly! This is one I’ll have to try out myself. c:
Well that's all for now! (:
